16 / 12 / 11 TRIGONOMETRY WORD PROBLEMS
A little boy is flying a kite. The string of the kite makes an angle of 30o with the ground. If the height of the kite is h = 15 m, find the length (in meters) of the string that the boy has used.
We know that the sine of 30 is 1/2, so this must be the same that 15 part the string length (x). We solve the equation (1/2=15/x) and we obtain 30 m.
